On July 12, 2008 the U.S. Mint released the much anticipated four coin Buffalo Set. This set includes the $5, $10, $25, and $50 gold piece. The Mint released these coins in both a proof and a business strike. Each coin is guaranteed by the U.S. Government to have the stated amount of pure .999 fine gold.
The very first buffalo gold was struck in 2006, and since then has been very popular with collectors around the United States. The gold Buffalo coins borrowed their design from the earlier 1913 Type 1 Buffalo Nickel, however it was the first time for this design to be struck on gold. The only draw back to the 06' and 07' gold Buffalo is it was only offered in the one ounce version. Now the Mint looks to be aiming on pleasing more collectors by offering the 08 Gold Buffalo Set. Just like it's counterpart the American Gold Eagles the Buffalo is offered in the tenth, quarter, half, and one ounce gold size. These Coins are all in 24 kt. gold and they will all bear the famous "W" mint mark as they were all struck at West Point.
The American Eagle Reserve is proud to offer each of these beautiful coins in certified Mint State 70 call your coin specialist for details.
