$50 American Gold Eagles
After careful consideration, the United States mint decided to borrow the design of the $20 Saint-Gaudens gold coin for the obverse of its new American Gold Eagle coin. The $20 Saint-Gaudens was first minted in 1907 and remained in general circulation until 1933. The design on the reverse of the Gold Eagle captures a bald eagle swooping into a nest holding its family, symbolizing many classic American concepts. The Miley Busiek design is surrounded by other information, including the amount of gold, its purity, and the stated face value of the US Eagle.
